The Institute of Public Health in Ireland (IPH) promotes North-South co-operation for public health on the island of Ireland. Tackling inequalities in health is at the heart of all that it does. Ireland and Northern Ireland's Population Health Observatory (INIsPHO) is housed in the Institute.
The Institute is a partner in two recently established research centres:
As part of their work programmes, the Institute and the two research centres wish to explore how an all-Ireland obesity observatory might contribute to efforts to tackle obesity on the island. This workshop is one of two being run across the island to gather input from policy makers, clinicians and other practitioners.
Workshop aims
The aims of the workshop are:

To bring together key stakeholders involved in the prevention and management of obesity

To introduce the concept of an obesity observatory

To explore how an all-Ireland obesity observatory could support efforts to tackle obesity.
