The purpose of IOBI is to support injury prevention practitioners by making important and relevant information and tools available in one website. This talk will introduce IOBI, explain its aims, describe some of its recent work and explore how it can support injury prevention and control on the island of Ireland.

3:00 Injury mortality in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Britain - Steve Barron, INIsPHO@IPH
This comparative analysis was conducted under the auspices of IOBI, of which INIsPHO is a member.
In this talk we give an overview of injury deaths in the five countries. Injury mortality rates in both Ireland and Northern Ireland are higher than those in England for all injury deaths, unintentional injury deaths, suicide, and homicide. We also highlight some of the similarities and differences between Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. Some of the methodological issues that arose when compiling and comparing injury data North and South will be presented.
