Launching Health Impacts of Education: a review - 4 November 2008

The findings of Health Impacts of Education: a review will be presented at a lunchtime event on Tuesday 4 November 2008.

The review illustrates how education impacts on health through increasing opportunities for income, employment and personal and social development.  Groups who may be particularly vulnerable to poorer health as a result of their experiences within the education system are highlighted. Particular reference is made to the education systems in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Speakers will include:

  • Dr John Vorhaus, Director, Centre for Wider Benefits of Learning, London
  • Mr Will Haire, Permanent Secretary, Department of Education, Northern Ireland
  • Ms Bridget McManus, Secretary General, Department of Education and Science, Republic of Ireland
  • Ms Claire Higgins, Public Health Development Officer, Institute of Public Health in Ireland
