Health inequalities are unacceptable, starting early in life and persisting not only into old age but subsequent generations. They reflect a complex array of health, social economic, environmental, and resourcing factors. Local health inequalities indicators give a picture of the situation in an area and put it into context by supporting and facilitating geographical comparisons.
